If my exploding twitter feed was any indication, it seems like a lot of people were watching the Golden Globes last night. While most of us won’t be walking the red carpet anytime soon, we can still have some fun on our nails. So without further ado … nail art inspired by the lovely ladies of the Golden Globes!

First up: the beautiful Emma Stone, wearing a dramatic Lanvin gown.

To create my Emma-inspired look, I started with a base of Essie Masquerade Belle, a deep, glossy red. While the base color was still a bit wet, I painted a stripe of China Glaze Pure Torture on top, slightly off-center. I wanted the colors to run together and look perfectly imperfect.

While I was fairly happy with this as my final mani, I had to find a way to incorporate Emma’s rockin’ eagle belt into my look. I painted a thin horizontal stripe of OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees onto my ring finger, and then topped the “belt” with a few chunks of glitter from OPI Crown Me Already. And we’re ready to rock.

You can’t have a proper red carpet event without Angelina Jolie. You just can’t.

While I thought she looked a bit harsh in this satin Atelier Versace dress, I couldn’t wait to recreate it on my nails.

I began by applying two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On.

I want to start wearing this by itself more often!

After applying a top coat and letting the polish dry completely, I applied two pieces of scotch tape to mark off the area I wanted to fill in with red. One piece of tape goes diagonally down your nail, and the other goes vertically to recreate the shape of Angie’s collar. You can learn more about my scotch tape mani technique here.

tricky to see clear tape on white polish, but you get the idea.

I filled in the scotch tape guidelines with Essie Silken Cord, a bright, classic red.

If my nails look like Angelina Jolie, it means I look like Angelina Jolie. Right?? Right.

And finally, the stunning Heidi Klum in understated Calvin Klein.

For this mani, I used Butter London Yummy Mummy, a shimmery nude, as my base. To create my “necklace,” I chose the metallic blue Zoya Noel.

The stones on Klum’s necklace aren’t perfectly round, so rather than using a fancy dotting tool, I decided to freestyle it with a plain old Q-tip. I removed some of the cotton fluff to make the tip a bit smaller.

I very carefully dabbed a tiny dot of polish off the Zoya brush and onto my Q-tip. I then simply dotted the Q-tip onto my nail, continuing until I finished my pattern. The results are never perfectly precise, but that’s fine by me.

So there you have it, my Golden Globe manis! Until next year!
